Car driving licences in Delmenhorst and the surrounding area: B, B197, BF17 and BE
Your car driving licence should fit your life. At Janssen-Drive in Delmenhorst, Ganderkesee, Bookholzberg and Stuhr, we advise on B, B197, accompanied driving from age 17 and trailer training. We also welcome enquiries from Bremen-Huchting and plan theory, driving lessons and the appropriate branch together.
Category B: manual or automatic
Category B generally covers motor vehicles up to 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass with no more than eight passenger seats in addition to the driver, plus trailers within the legal limits. You can normally obtain it from age 18, or through accompanied driving from age 17. Theory and practical lessons teach vehicle control, anticipation and safe decisions in traffic.
A practical test in a manual car gives category B without an automatic-only restriction. A test only in an automatic car generally results in code 78 unless the relevant additional requirements are met. If you want to test in an automatic but also drive manual cars, ask us about B197.
B197: an automatic test with manual driving entitlement
With B197, you take the practical test in an automatic and complete the required manual-car training: at least ten 45-minute lessons and an assessment lasting at least 15 minutes with the instructor. Once the requirements are met and code 197 is entered, you may drive category B vehicles with either transmission. Separate rules apply to later extensions such as BE or truck categories; ask us beforehand.
Accompanied driving from age 17 in Delmenhorst, Ganderkesee and Stuhr
BF17 lets you gain driving experience after passing the tests with a registered accompanying adult. Until age 18, you may drive only under this condition. The accompanying person must meet the legal requirements and be entered on your test certificate. Prepare the application and details early; we explain the process and help plan your training.
Trailer category BE and code B96
Trailer entitlement depends on the maximum authorised masses and your licence. Category B allows trailers up to 750 kg; heavier trailers are generally permitted only when the combination stays within 3,500 kg. B96 extends eligible combinations to more than 3,500 kg and up to 4,250 kg after training without a separate licence test. BE allows a trailer of up to 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass behind a category B vehicle and requires a practical test. Vehicle technical limits still apply.
Discuss your training plan and quote
The lessons you need depend on your progress and existing licence. Request a quote with your preferred category and branch. For concentrated theory study, we also offer holiday courses and compact evening theory in Varrel. Practical training and any intensive driving lessons are arranged separately.
Car driving licence FAQs
Can I get a driving licence at 17?
Yes, through BF17. Until age 18 you must drive with a registered accompanying adult who meets the legal requirements.
Is B197 an automatic-only licence?
No. After the required manual training, instructor assessment and entry of code 197, you may drive category B vehicles with either manual or automatic transmission.
How long does training take?
It depends on progress, available lesson and test appointments, and authority processing. We plan your training individually rather than promise a fixed completion date.
